I never really observed Lent before. I’m also not Catholic. Yet, I’ve grown so much in my faith this past year that I wanted to give up something for Lent. So for the forty days of Lent, I’m giving up consuming any animal products at all: I’m going vegan. I started two days ago, on Ash Wednesday. This isn’t that difficult for me because I’ve tried to eat a vegan diet for the past few months, but I’ve still cheated. I’m giving that up for Lent. No animal products of any kind. No cheating. This isn’t for me now, it’s for Him.
I found Vegan for Lent guide a few days ago and have downloaded it to my phone. The guide includes daily verses and recipes for a loving and reflecting vegan Lent. I love collecting verses that really speak to me and will be recording some here during my Lent journey.
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it. – Psalm 24:1
LORD, I pray that you will continue to show me your beautiful ways and feed me spiritually. I will never go hungry without you. I pray that you will give me strength to get through these forty days and shine your light for me. I also ask that you show me your plans for me and use me to help others. I want to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Thank you for everything you have provided, it is more than enough. I pray that this season of Lent will continue to show me how much I can live off You and You alone. Amen.
